Why your physio doesn’t give you a massage?
‘My previous physios never gave me a massage.’
This is the most common comment I receive from my patients.
Do you know why most physios don’t provide massage? This is because a physio’s role is to empower their patients. The patient is in charge of their therapy as much as the physio is. So massage has been seen as a passive treatment with the patient just lying there doing nothing.
But my approach is different. I look at the mind, body and spirit. They are all part of our lives. Massage can build trust between therapist and patient, relaxing the mind and that can lead to a faster healing process and making it easier to receive other types of treatment.
My massage techniques are not fancy. No manipulation or weird stretching movements. But I know the root cause of your pain from the moment you walk into the clinic, or just by touch and physical assessment.
At the end of the day there is nothing wrong if I want to spoil my patient for a bit with a therapeutic massage
